I had just moved to the east coast from Chicago. It was such a different pace of living, and not having any family or friends around was difficult. I was working at a commercial brokerage firm, but I just knew that I wanted something more in my life.

My fiance and I built our home on a farm in CT and when I experienced the actual labor of laying the floors, tiling, installing cabinets, I really found my passion. Building a business is unbelievably hard. A lot of people don't see what goes on behind the scenes and how much blood, sweat, and literal tears you put into it, but it’s so incredibly worth it. Now, I'll never stop.

The biggest goal for Taylor Kathleen Interiors is to keep expanding and reaching more people. We've done a couple of projects across the country, and we're hoping to expand on that and design in some cool parts of the world one day.

My drive has been so different since starting TKI, I've seen such a shift in my life. The passion that I have for this industry and my company…being able to transform my clients' homes into something they're proud of just keeps me going. I've always wanted to feel like I had freedom in my life, and every single day I just love waking up and having a purpose, having a drive - TKI gives me that.

I think at the end of the day, you just have to do it. Find something you're passionate about, and go after it. So many people have that feeling of  ‘I'd love to do this someday.' When women say that to me, I tell them to just go for it. You're capable of so much more than you think.

The best part about finding your forte is that you can make it into whatever you want. You get to define yourself, and that's the ultimate experience. The sky's the limit, so just go for it.
