What To Wear To Your Upcoming Events
All Editorial

The summer weather is here, and that means your social calendar is beginning to bloom. With weddings, baby showers, outdoor happy hours, and date nights hitting every weekend, we’ve rounded up our favorite looks for each occasion.

Wedding Guest:

You’ve received the invitation, skimmed the wedding website, and now the biggest decision: what to wear.

The first step to finding the perfect wedding guest attire is to know the dress code. We posted previously about dressing appropriately for the occasion, and we’re breaking it down further for when it comes to weddings. Here are some of our favorite looks for wedding guests this year:

  1. Daytime Wedding
Weddings scheduled before 4pm are more casual than an evening affair, so opt for something light and fun. Of course, the weather is always a key factor in any outfit choice, so be sure to dress appropriately for the temps.

  2. Beach/Coastal Wedding
What’s better than oceanfront vows? We love a sandy ceremony and the dress options for destination weddings are some of our faves. Don’t forget about the inevitable breeze – opt for something you don’t need to worry will give you a Marilyn moment  .

  3. Cocktail Wedding
We find that the majority of weddings fit into this category – typically an evening ceremony with a reception to follow at a somewhat formal venue. According to Brides magazine, “Cocktail attire is meant to bridge the gap between day and night…Think somewhere between a sophisticated formal occasion and office or party wear.”* While you should consider factors like themes or recommended attire by the bride and groom, these versatile options will likely suit your cocktail wedding needs (and, in typical Forte fashion, you’ll stand out from the crowd).

  4. Black-Tie Wedding
Possibly our favorite, the black-tie wedding allows you to go all out and dress up in something out of the ordinary lineup. Remember, black-tie requires formal attire (typically a floor-length evening gown), so be sure to comply. We like to opt for traditional colors. Keep it classic or add a twist with a print or texture.

Bridal/Baby Shower Guest:
Celebrate the bride or mom-to-be with a unique outfit choice. We love that appropriate shower attire lives in between casual and dressy. Change it up with a jumpsuit or separates to have some fun with your look. Remember, white is reserved for the bride only.

Date Night / Girls’ Night Out
Whether you’re planning a candlelit dinner with your S.O. or going to the trendy new spot in town with your girlfriends, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite looks for the occasion. Weekend outfits are what we live for, when we step out of our routine and into some fun. Be bold and dress it up, or enhance your laid-back look with a blazer or fun jogger – the options are limitless.
